Love in the Time of Serial Killers by Alicia Thompson
PhD candidate Phoebe Walsh has always been obsessed with true crime. She's analysing the genre in her dissertation - if she can manage to finish it. It's hard to find the time while she spends the summer in Florida, cleaning out her childhood home, dealing with her younger brother, and grappling with the feelings of mourning an estranged father. It doesn't help that she's low-key convinced that her new neighbour, Sam, is a serial killer. But it's not long before Phoebe realises that Sam might be something much scarier - a genuinely nice guy who can pierce her armour to reach her vulnerable heart.Alicia Thompson earned her bachelor's degree in psychology from New College of Florida in 2006, and she authored this debut novel in between pulling all-nighters on her senior thesis. Abby Greene for President and Stealing Mark Twain are two of her short pieces that have appeared in Girls' Life magazine. She is presently pursuing an MFA in fiction writing at the University of South Florida (where she still pulls all-nighters on occasion).
