Love Letters to Play by Greg Bottrill
Love Letters to Play explores and cherishes the power of play. It is centred around the transformational power of play to empower children to understand both their own identities and the world around them. The book presents inspirational and thought-provoking words from across the world to open-up our thinking about play and childhood.
Greg Bottrill is an experienced Early Years practitioner and consultant. Committed to changing perceptions of Early Years, he is dedicated to bringing about a new pedagogy that puts the child at the centre of the education Universe. Stephanie Cook is an Early Years and Key Stage 1 teacher who is passionate about children’s freedoms, their right to be seen as equals within society, and the powerful possibilities of play. She believes that education should be centred around childhood’s intrinsic motivation to learn through play-fullness and an authentic re-connection with Nature. Much of her thinking also explores ‘alternative’ educational approaches and how these might bring positive change to the English education system.
