Loving Mother by Ann Burnett
Margaret and Janis are mother and daughter, living together in less than harmony. Janis returned home after her marriage failed and is now dependent on her mother to accompany her everywhere. But Margaret has a secret in her past, and when that secret turns up on their doorstep, their lives are never the same. As Margaret's life comes to a close, Janis finds a new life and a new way of living.
Burnett, Ann: - I've been a writer ever since I was a child and I've written all kinds of things. I started off writing for children, producing a Postman Pat story for a comic every week for five years; I've written over 100 radio and TV scripts for BBC children's programmes and along the way, I've had short stories and articles published in many magazines as well as online. I came to novel writing late; I did a Masters in Creative Writing at Glasgow University and decided that for my dissertation it was easier to write a novel rather than ten different short stories. So I wrote 'Loving Mother' about a mother and her daughter and the arrival of someone claiming to be the mother's child that she gave up at birth. It's still available on Amazon. My tag line is 'Writer of Many Things' which just about sums me up. I now live on the east coast of Scotland after many years on the west and have discovered a wealth of history in the area which, of course, I'm writing articles about.
