Jon Lee Anderson began his career as a correspondent for the Lima Times in Peru in 1979. He covered Central America in the 1980s, first for syndicated columnist Jack Anderson and then for Time magazine. He's also the author of Guerillas: Travels in the Insurgent World, which he wrote for the New York Times, Nation, Harper's, Life, and the Nation.
