Lucy Cousins, the creator of Maisy, won the 2002 Smarties Book Prize Gold Award for the Under 5s category with her picture book Jazzy in the Jungle. Her book Za-za's Baby Brother was also recently used in the nationwide Tommy's campaign for premature babies. She lives in Petersfield, Hampshire, and has four children.
