Alex Webb is well recognized for his colorful and sophisticated color photography, which he frequently produces in Latin America and the Caribbean. Violet Isle: A Duet of Photos from Cuba (co-authored with Rebecca Norris Webb) and The Suffering of Light, a compendium of thirty years of his color work, are among his eleven books. In 1979, Alex joined Magnum Photos as a full member. His work has been exhibited extensively, notably at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art and Whitney Museum of American Art, as well as Atlanta's High Museum of Art. He's won a slew of prizes, including a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2007. His work has appeared in publications such as the New York Times Magazine, National Geographic, and GEO.
