Making it and Selling it Street Art by Ric Blackshaw

This work features sections that investigate the tools and materials, roots and influences, where and how to show work, case studies of people 'doing it', and an extensive list of contacts and resources. Each book in the series will showcase work from the most influential practitioners from around the world. "Street Art" aims to plug into the buzz surrounding this most contemporary of art forms. Coming from the underground and influenced by graffiti, graphic design, typography, comic books, and digital art, street art is gaining a foothold in galleries and with serious collectors. Many practitioners are self-taught, have highly-developed practical skills, unique and personal visual languages, and a burning intent to be seen and heard. The publishing boom in books on graffiti and street art has so far concentrated on geographical round-ups of 'found' images, often reproduced as poor-quality photographs, alongside monographs of a few 'star' artists. "Street Art" sets out to provide first person accounts and relevant practical information, explaining various ways of creating imagery, providing a list of contacts and an up to the minute review of the state of the art.
Ric Blackshaw was part of the team (along with Liz Farrelly) that put together the highly successful and influential Scrawl titles. Since then, he has set up and run the Scrawl Collective, a hybrid illustration and design agency, curatorial service, and online gallery. Liz Farrelly is a writer, editor, and curator, specialising in the fields of graphic design, 3D design, and visual culture. As well as regular magazine work, she has contributed to over 40 design-related books.
