Co-author Bernadette Hewitt is an award-winning equestrian journalist who has covered four Olympics and numerous championships. She is the author of four equestrian books, including one written with Carl. Bernadette was formerly a broadcast journalist and researcher specialising in trans-national crime and border security until a law degree intervened. She achieved a First, thanks to being able to string three words together, but couldn't shake off the writing bug. Bernadette lives in Hampshire with her husband Richard, a retired Army officer, and their Labrador dog Lenny.
