A Malmo Midwinter by Torquil Macleod

Inspector Anita Sundstrom is called away from Christmas with her mother to help investigate a domestic death. Her initial relief at escaping a dull festive season soon fades when she and sidekick, Hakim Mirza, find themselves dealing with a difficult case involving the murder of an unloved father and disliked neighbour. Though suspects and motives abound, they are having difficulty identifying the murder weapon. Has the killing something to do with the victim's past, or is the reason closer to home? It's not the Christmas Anita was anticipating, nor the conclusion she was expecting.
'Anita Sundstrom deserves a place alongside the best Nordic detectives' QUENTIN BATES. 'In Anita Sundstrom, Torquil MacLeod is developing a Sarah Lund for our decade.' CAFE THINKING. 'Feisty Anita Sundstrom is one of the most fascinating characters I've come across in the last couple of years.' CLAIRE LOVES TO READ! 'This is a series that is going from strength to strength.' NORTHERN CRIME
Torquil MacLeod was an advertising copywriter for 36 years. Born in Edinburgh, he now lives in Cumbria, with his wife, Susan. He came up with the idea for his Malmo detective, Inspector Anita Sundstrom, after the elder of his two sons moved to southern Sweden in 2000, and the author befriended two police detectives (both of whom worked out of the Ystad police station!).
