Mammoth Hunt by John Blashford-Snell

This work traces the years of research and adventure that became a quest to rediscover an animal long thought extinct. In 1987 rumours began to filter out of Nepal that tribesmen had seen a massive elephantine creature in their traditional hunting grounds. From footprints and rare sightings, evidence was built up until a full exploration was mounted, and so began a catalogue of exploration and intrepid jungle adventure which took the small team to the heart of a legend.

John Blashford-Snell started his career in the army and then set up Operation Raleigh. He has been on over 60 expeditions in almost every part of the world. He now organizes exploration projects with emphasis on conservation, environmental issues and wildlife.
