The Man Who Couldn't Lose by Roger Silverwood
Detective Inspector Michael Angel and his team investigate another puzzling and chilling case of murder in the South Yorkshire town of Bromersley. Wheelchair-bound millionaire businessman, Joshua Gumme, has the Midas touch. He is successful with women and in business. Even at card games he wins every time, but whilst everybody knows he cheats, they just don't know how. It is no surprise therefore, to find his body floating in the River Don. At the same time, Angel's investigations lead him on the track of two dangerous crooks. He attempts to find and arrest them, but they have plans for him.
Roger Silverwood lives on the outskirts of Barnsley. After National Service he entered the toy trade where he became a sales director. Then he went into business as an antique dealer specialising in Victorian jewellery until he retired in 1997.
