She was the first American author to win the International Women's Fiction Festival's Baccante Award, as well as the Strnad Invitational Fellowship from Ragdale Artists Colony and the Best Fiction Award from the New England Book Festival. Her writing reviews and articles have featured in publications such as the London Times, the Washington Post, and the Huffington Post. Brunonia is a member of the Salem Athenaeum's Writers Committee, which she co-chairs.
She and her husband, Gary Ward, reside in Salem with their dog, Angel. The Salem Literary Festival is organized by Gary and Bru.
