Marc Quinn by Victoria Pomery

Marc Quinn produces a diverse range of work, using a selection of different media including painting, sculpture, drawing and photography. Much of his work is preoccupied with the changing physical states of the human body; increasingly it addresses ideas around mortality and survival in the age of genetic manipulation. This publication coincides with an exhibition at the Tate Liverpool and presents a large body of new work. Essays reflect on Quinn's diversity of practice and his working methods; his clean and controlled installed pieces are the result of an amalgam of references explored in an untidy studio. The cover depicts the artist's baby son Lucas and Quinn himself worked closely with the designers of the publication in order to include his own handwritten captions.
