Marginalization by John Atherton
Can the urban church survive in Britain and Western Europe? The increasing irrelevance of churches and Christianity to people and public life drives this enquiry to look for answers by examining marginalization processes focused on divisions within and between nations, peoples and environment. John Atherton draws particularly on British, American and European political philosophy, economics, feminist ethics and theology to reconnect Christianity to people and public life. He also examines contemporary inter-faith issues and suggests a new Christian political economy engaging mainstream economics and interfaith economics.

Revd Canon John Atherton is Canon Theologian at Manchester Cathedral. He is also honorary lecturer in the Department of Religion and Theology at the University of Manchester. This book is a result of a life's experience in a variety of disciplines (politics, history and theology), and pastoral work with deprived communities in the UK.
