Written in 1899, this novel concerns the charlatan dentist McTeague, his wife Trina, and their spiralling descent into moral corruption. It is a tale of greed, degeneration and death, which is considered one of the most naturalistic American novels of the 19th century.Frank Norris (March 5, 1870 – October 25, 1902) was an American journalist and novelist of the Progressive Era, whose fiction was mostly in the naturalist genre.[1][2][3][4][5] His famous works include McTeague (1899), The Octopus: A Tale of California (1901), and The Pit (1903).
