He is the author of two autobiographies: This Life and The Measure of a Man, which was chosen for Oprah's Book Club and was a New York Times bestseller. Poitier has received the Screen Actors Guild's highest distinction, the Life Achievement Award, for an great career and humanitarian accomplishment, among many others. He has six daughters, four grandsons, and one great-granddaughter, and he is married.
