He is credited with developing the first ever method for retrograde catheterization of the venous tree as well as with the discovery of the motion of venous valves in human beings. In addition to that, his original research on histopathological specimens of patients with saphenofemoral incompetency resulted in a paradigm shift in management of varicose veins. He also performed the first ever vein valve transplantation below the knee. The discovery of right atrial mechanical function is a pivotal discovery in his medical research work.
