The Honorable Constance Morrison Burke known familiarly as the Hon. Con having already solved one murder which left the police baffled, is hardly likely to ignore a killing which occurs practically on her own doorstep."Joyce Porter was born in Marple, Cheshire, and went to King's College in London for her education. She joined the Women's Royal Air Force in 1949 and qualified for confidential intelligence work after completing an intense Russian training. She had finished three detective books by the time she left the army in 1963. Porter is well known for her Detective Inspector Wilfred Dover series of novels. Dover One debuted in 1964, and nine more followed in a hugely successful series. Porter also developed Eddie Brown, a hesitant spy, and Constance Ethel Morrison Burke, an aristocratic gentlewoman-detective.
