Memories by Elaine Paige

A true national treasure, Elaine Paige shares memories of her extraordinary life and career.
Since her debut in Hair, Elaine Paige has become a West End institution. As a performer she is right at the heart of the modern resurgence of the British musical, and has worked with many of its key figures, such as Andrew Lloyd Webber, Tim Rice and Trevor Nunn. Her critically-acclaimed, award-winning roles include Eva Peron in Evita, Grizabella in Cats, and Florence in Chess – each of which she originated. She has also played the title role in Piaf, Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard which took her to New York for her sensational Broadway debut, and Anna in The King and I. She played Mrs Lovett in the New York Opera production of Sweeney Todd and returned recently to the West End in the title role of The Drowsy Chaperone. As a solo artist Elaine has released many gold and platinum selling discs, and has performed in concert throughout the world, from London to Beijing. Her duet with Barbara Dickson, I Know Him So Well from the musical Chess, was number one in the UK for four weeks in 1985, and remains in the Guinness Book of Records as the biggest selling UK Chart single ever by a female duo. Her hugely popular BBC Radio 2 show, Elaine Paige on Sunday, regularly attracts 1.7 million listeners.
