She was born on May 10, 1917, in Huntington, Vermont, and died in Claremont, California. On September 19, 2006, at the age of 89, he passed away. Among the works she wrote during her lifetime are King Arthur, Merlin, Guinevere, Heroines, The Holy Grail, Priestesses, Ancient Mythology, and Medieval Myths. In the mid-1970s, she was also an Assistant Professor of French at USC and an Associate Professor of French and Comparative Literature at The Claremont Colleges before becoming Dean of the Faculty at Scripps College.
She is a member of the Metropolitan Opera Guild, the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR), and the Royal Society of Descendants of Charlemagne.
