Subjects covered by the essays include: art fakery, schooldays, the differences between Canadians and Americans, Thackery, Ibsen, writing and reading.Robertson Davies was born in the little town of Thamesville, Ontario, in the year 1913. He attended Queen's University's Upper Canada College and Oxford's Balliol College. He was a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature, an Honourary Fellow of Balliol College, a Member of the Order of Ontario, and a Companion of the Order of Canada, as well as the first Canadian member of the American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters.
