Metal Cats by Alexandra Crockett
The metal scene is known for its love of dark, depressing and disturbing imagery and ideas, and its fans are often mischaracterised as violent, hateful and misanthropic. Metal Cats is hard evidence that while the music may be brutal, the people in the scene are softies for their pets just like everyone else.Alexandra Crockett is a musician and jewelry designer who has been involved in the metal world since she was 15 years old and is currently pursuing her doctorate in the Bay Area. She got the idea for the book when she was cat-sitting for bands and friends, and she noticed an unusual dynamic between males in the metal scene and their cats. The book's concept was born out of a desire to honor local metal musicians and artists while also highlighting the need of no-kill shelters for animal rights.
