Dmitry Glukhovsky is a Russian journalist and writer. METRO 2033, a post-nuclear dystopia set in the Moscow subway, the world's largest bomb shelter, was written as an online interactive experiment and distributed as a free project on his own website in 2002, before being completed in 2004. The novel was published as a book few years later and became a success. It has been translated into 37 languages and has sold over 2 million copies worldwide. On the novel's official website, millions of people have read the novel's free text in the original Russian language.

Metro 2034 and Metro 2035, Sumerki, and Futu.re, Glukhovsky's subsequent books, have all been published online and have become international bestsellers. Dmitry Glukhovsky is also regarded as one of the world's first transmedia storytellers. His 'Metro' epic spans his own novels 'Metro 2033' and 'Metro 2034,' as well as the two video games inspired by the books and continuing the storyline - 'Metro 2033' and 'Metro: Last Light,' as well as novels written by other authors within and for the 'The Universe of Metro 2033' international book franchise (70 books released as of October 2015). Dmitry Glukhovsky's most recent novel, a dystopia titled 'Future,' was initially published in Russia's premier social network, 'VK.com.'

The novel's chapters were connected as free-to-download PDF documents, along with a free-to-listen original music and drawings; in just a few months, the 'Future' page had garnered over 300,000 subscribers. He traveled from Morocco and Guatemala to Iceland and Japan as a traveling reporter for Russia Today and EuroNews. He was deep in the Chernobyl area filming the devastated nuclear reactor, seeing Russian rockets launch from Baykonur, reporting on Israel's standoff with Hezbollah in Kiryat-Shmona under missiles, and making the world's first live report from the North Pole. Glukhovsky is fluent in English, French, German, Hebrew, and Spanish, in addition to his native Russian.
