Charles James Hall was born and raised in a small town near Madison, Wisconsin, in the United States. On July 20, 1964, Charles joined in the United States Air Force. During his two years near Nellis Air Force Base north of Las Vegas, Nevada, he spent a lot of time in the desert on the Gunnery Ranges at Indian Springs, Nevada. Following his stint as a weather observer, he spent a year in Vietnam, serving in the Mekong Delta. Charles was honored for surviving more than 35 communist assassinations.
Charles married Marie in May 1968, a year after earning an honorable discharge, on the condition that he attend college. At San Diego State University in San Diego, California, he received both a Bachelor's degree in Thermal Physics and a Master's degree in Applied Nuclear Physics in record time. Charles earned a Ph.D. At the University of Maine in Bangor, he did post-graduate work at the master's level.
Subsequently, he graduated from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, with a master's degree in business administration.
