Millicent Margaret Amanda – or Milly-Molly-Mandy for short! – lives in a tiny village in the heart of the English countryside. She is always busy helping out, going on visits and having fun with little-friend-Susan and Billy Blunt. In fact, there’s never a dull moment when Milly-Molly-Mandy’s around!
Joyce Lankester Brisley wrote and drew books from an early age; she had her first fairy story published in a children's paper at the age of thirteen. She studied at art school and, when she was twenty, had pictures hung in the Royal Academy. However, she enjoyed writing and illustrating stories most and her immortal creation, the Milly-Molly-Mandy series, set a seal on her success. Miss Brisley died in 1978 aged eighty-two.
