Minority Rights and Artificial Intelligence by Roberta Medda-Windischer
The rapid deployment of artificial intelligence (AI) across sectors of public and private life is reshaping human interaction, decision-making, and governance. While much of the public debate has focused on the benefits and risks of AI in general terms, significantly less attention has been paid to the intersection between AI systems and the protection of minorities. This volume presents a pioneering and interdisciplinary reflection on the implications of AI for ethnic, religious, linguistic, and other minority groups, with a particular focus on the normative, structural, and representational challenges that AI introduces into the realm of minority rights.
Building on original contributions from experts in law, political science, human-computer interaction, philosophy, and digital sociology, this edited collection critically explores how AI technologies may reproduce, exacerbate, or reshape existing patterns of marginalisation. Through the lens of minority protection, contributors engage with the normative blind spots of current AI design and governance, and offer forward-looking proposals for more inclusive, rights-based AI systems.
The book will be of interest to academics, researchers and policy-makers working in the areas of Constitutional Law, Human Rights Law, Administrative Law, Public Policy, Public Governance, Diversity Management, Sociology and Technology.
