In the 1960s he built Scotland's first and only film studio near Edinburgh. He spent nearly 40 years pioneering the international co-production of films for TV and cinema and won a number of major awards. He served as Scottish chairman and UK vice-chairman of the Independent Programme Producers Association and also as co-production project leader of the Council of Europe. He is author of over a hundred film scripts and books.
