Mr. Majeika by Humphrey Carpenter
Class Three certainly have a surprise in store when their new teacher arrives on a flying carpet! Mr Majeika is no ordinary teacher; he was once a wizard, and he is finding it difficult to remember that he has changed occupations. So the pupils in his class, especially Hamish Bigmore, find some very unusual, and often magical, things happening - usually when they are least expecting it.
HUMPHREY CARPENTER was born and educated in Oxford and worked for the BBC before becoming a full-time writer in 1975. He is the author of all the Mr Majeika stories for children and has published several award-winning biographies, including ones of J R R Tolkein, and C S Lewis. From 1994 to 1996 he directed the Cheltenham Festival of Literature and ran a young people's drama group. He has two daughters.
