Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimh by Robert C O'brien
"Thoroughly engrossing, thought-provoking fantasy." --School Library Journal (starred review)Some extraordinary rats come to the aid of a mouse family in this "treasure of a book" (The Times, London), the Newbery Medal-winning classic by notable children's author Robert C. O'Brien.
Mrs. Frisby, a widowed mouse with four small children, is faced with a terrible problem. She must move her family to their summer quarters immediately, or face almost certain death. But her youngest son, Timothy, lies ill with pneumonia and must not be moved.
Fortunately, she encounters the rats of NIMH, an extraordinary breed of highly intelligent creatures, who come up with a brilliant solution to her dilemma. And Mrs. Frisby in turn renders them a great service.
O'Brien was born in the borough of Brooklyn, in the state of New York. He went to Williams College and then to the University of Rochester, where he earned his bachelor's degree. He worked for Newsweek, National Geographic, and other publications as a writer and editor. With his wife and four children, he lived in New York City and subsequently Washington, DC. After his death in 1973, his wife and daughter finished Z for Zachariah with the help of his notes, which is now a blockbuster cinematic feature starring Margot Robbie, Chris Pine, and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
In addition, he is the author of Mrs. The Silver Crown and Frisby and the Rats of NIMH
