Multi-faith Britain by David A Hart

The world's first ever specially-designed 'multi-faith centre' will open its doors in Derby, Spring 2002. To con-incide with this momentous project the man with the task of directing this centre, Mr David A Hart, has brought together those who have 'grasped the nettle and are practising interfaith dialogue in Britain today'. He has asked each of the participants to write about their experiences and expectations for the future. All those interested in examining what our own faiths say that is inclusive of others and helps us to understand elements of our common human story and the global faith treasury. For pluralists everywhere; to academics; theological students and lay/clergy training. The book will be of particular interest to those concerned with race relations in Britain today, bearing in mind the recent riots in the North of England.
David A Hart is an Anglican Priest who has worked in inner-city ministry (South Bank), and has taken school & university chaplaincies. As a result of many trips to India, he has become a convinced multi-faither, now heading up the first purpose-built multi-faith centre known in the world. David is involved in several organisations, including; 'World Congress of Faiths (Secretary, Executive Committee); 'Sea of Faith' (Steering Committee); Association for Pastoral Care & Counselling and 'The Open Centre in Derby (Director). He is also Senior Lecturer in Religious Studies at Derby University. Other Publications David has been involved in, include: 'Faith in Doubt' (Mowbray 1993), 'One Faith?' (Mowbray 1995), 'Linking Up' (Arthur James 1997), 'Time & Tide' (O-Books 2001). Along with this book, David is also Co-editing a title called 'Radical Theologians in dialogue' with Dan Cohen-Sherbok (Casell).
