The Murderer's Daughters by R S Meyers
Sisters Lulu and Merry share a terrible past. When Lulu was only a child, she let her drunken father into the family home and watched him kill her mother - and then turn on six-year-old Merry. Years later, clinging to the wreckage of their childhood, the sisters try to make sense of what happened. Bound by their love for each other but divided by private grief, forgiveness comes at a higher price than either could have imagined. The Murderer's Daughters is a gripping and moving story of the ramifications of one violent act and the endurance of family loyalty - even when it is stretched to the very limit.
A touching tale that will truly move you SUN This is a fantastic readI came to know Lulu and Merry almost as well as family of my own, and it's a tribute to the author's skilful storytelling that you can never quite guess where the sister s' paths will lead them. Highly recommended LOUISE CANDLISH A thought-provoking and compelling read ... A good reading-group novel NEW BOOKS MAGAZINE Not for anyone looking for lighthearted escapism IMAGE
The author lives in Boston and this is her first novel. It is informed by her years of work with batterers, domestic violence victims and at-risk youth. Meyers is currently at work on a second novel that will explore similar territory to The Murderer's Daughters.
