The Music of the Spheres by Elizabeth Redfern

In eighteenth-century London, a killer walks the teeming streets. His victims are always young prostitutes with red hair. Before they die, they hear whispers that speak of stars. Of a woman named Selene. Then they feel the cord around their necks.

While the Revolution rages across the Channel, Jonathan Absey, working for England's Home Office, tracks down foreign spies in the war against France. But he is obsessed with the recent killings of prostitutes, all of whom resemble his lost daughter, who met her end in the shadowy alleys of London.

The redemption he craves won't be found in the politics of war. The answers he seeks won't be on the city streets. Danger and intrigue will compel him to look elsewhere, for it is where he least expects it that a secret is hiding.

Elizabeth Redfern was born on October 29, 1950, in Cheshire, England, and obtained a BA in English from the University of Nottingham. She went on to Ealing College for a postgraduate degree in Chartered Librarianship and the University of Derby for a postgraduate certificate in teaching. Redfern trained and worked as a chartered librarian, first in London and subsequently in Nottingham. Her husband, a solicitor, and she relocated to Derbyshire. Once her daughter was born, Redfern retrained as a teacher and began work with the Derbyshire County Council as an adult education lecturer - major subject, English. Since then, she's been involved in a variety of programs in the surrounding towns, including working with the unemployed and workplace skills training. She lives in a community in the Derbyshire Peak District with her husband and daughter, who attends a local school.

In her leisure time, Redfern performs with the Chesterfield Symphony Orchestra, a local orchestra. Her debut novel is The Music of the Spheres.
