Lazarus and The Gentleman from San Francisco, while fairly typical of Slavic literature, nevertheless contain few of the elements popularly associated with the work of contemporary Russian writers. They have no sex interest, no photographic descriptions of sordid conditions and no lugubrious philosophizing. These stories are not cheerful, yet their sadness is uplifting rather than depressing. Becky Johnson trained and worked as a chef at the renowned Villandry in London and Ballymaloe House in Southern Ireland before embarking on a two year adventure of culinary discovery through Asia, Australia and America. Since then she has worked as a food stylist and writer with 14 recipe books to her name.Becky now lives in the wilds of Snowdonia where she has developed the ideas for Baking with Tiny Tots with a lot of enthusiastic help from her seven-year-old daughter, Summer.
