Shauntay Grant is a writer and performance artist based in Halifax. She is the author of several books for children including Up Home, winner of an Atlantic Book Award for Best Atlantic Published Book, and My Hair is Beautiful, a board book about natural hair, which received a starred review from School Library Journal in the US, who called it "A book for all children's library collections". My Hair is Beautiful was a Toronto Public Library 2019 First and Best Selection, and a selection on Betsy Bird's Top Ten Board Books of the Year in 2020, hosted on SLJ. Grant teaches creative writing at Dalhousie University.
