Also here, Akmatova's illuminating Prose About the Poem, on the genesis of her masterpiece A Poem Without a Hero, ' along with extensive notes and a detailed biographical sketch.

Anna Akhmatova (1889-1966) was a well-known figure in twentieth-century Russian literature and a brilliant poet of her time. Her works have been translated into a number of other languages.
