Thalia Courtney trained as a teacher, specialising in music prior. Having married in 1954, she gave up teaching when she became pregnant with her first child the following year. She then supported her husband in his insurance sales career. Following her divorce she ran her own property business and resumed her musical career, gaining an Open University degree. She lives in Leeds.
