Carl Carmer was the author of a number of books, including Stars Fell on Alabam, The Hudson (both published by Fordham University Press), and others. Much of his writing reflects his lifelong interest in New York state folklore and history. He was Vice President of the New York State Historical Association's Board of Trustees and an Honorary Trustee of the New York State Folklore Society.
