The Myth of the Great Emancipator by Greg Loren Durand

Most Americans today have an almost religious reverence for the memory of Abraham Lincoln, believing him to be the ideological predecessor to the 1960s civil rights icon, Martin Luther King, Jr. So ingrained is this belief in the collective consciousness of the nation, that it would be viewed as indecorous, if not outright heresy, to suggest that the man seated in the Greek-style tem ple on the Potomac was anything but the destroyer of slavery and harbinger of Negro equality. The inconvenient truth about Lincoln, however, is that he was not, above all other things, the liberator of the colored race. He never contemplated with any degree of substantiation the prospect of a free negro race living in the same country as a free white race. Instead, his views on the Black man were typical of a member of the Border State laboring class. (excerpt from Chapter One)
Greg Loren Durand has been involved in apologetics ministry since 1986 and is the author of numerous books and essays, including The Five Points of Christianity: A Biblical Defense of Calvinism, In God We Trust?: The Deadly Cancer of the Health and Wealth Gospel, Communion With the Gods: The Pagan Altar of Freemasonry, and America's Caesar: The Decline and Fall of Republican Government in the United States of America. He currently lives with his wife and children in the scenic Appalachian foothills of northeast Georgia.
