Mythical Beasts by Jake Miller
Crazy Creature packs are giant-size decks of cards, each deck packaged with its own illustrated book of instructions for fun card games. The cards themselves feature great illustrations. The Mythical Beasts deck displays a slightly scary but mainly funny selection of dragons, ogres, elves, gnomes, and other such creatures. Kids will have hours of fun playing such games as Battling Beasts, Pay the Dragon, and many others. The 32-page book that comes with the 52-card deck contains instructions for approximately a dozen different games. The cards are bright and sturdy, 4 x 6 laminated card stock. (Ages 7-10)
Jake Miller has photographed people and places all over the world. He seeks to transcend the illusions that pervade human life so that we can begin to reframe contentious models of thinking and re-imagine boundaries differently than our structures have defined them. He uses images and words to connect people to ideas and to each other in the hope of identifying and erasing harmful divisions used to suppress people and separate them from each other and from the world. Miller is a graduate of Fordham University's art program and has studied photography at ICP in New York City.
