Juliette de Bairacli Levy is a world-renowned herbalist, author, Afghan hound breeder, friend of the Gypsies, herbal wanderer, and pioneer of holistic veterinary treatment. Juliette has a long history of miraculous cures, and her works have been a major source of inspiration for the current herbal renaissance. Juliette was born in Manchester, England, on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, almost in 1911 (actually 1912). Her mother was Egyptian and her father was Turkish, and both were Jewish. Juliette grew up in a family that had three sisters and two brothers, as well as a nanny, chauffeur, maid, and gardener.

She attended Lowther College, one of the premier girls institutions in the country, before going on to the Universities of Manchester and Liverpool to study veterinary medicine. Juliette, on the other hand, was against vivisection and animal experiments in colleges in the name of science and health. Juliette has been travelling to America every summer for many years to deliver lectures, workshops, and seminars on herbal therapy. She left university after two years and proceeded to study with the world's Gypsies and peasants. She is regarded as the grandmother of today's herbal renaissance in the United States.
