Drawing together the various researches into Nelson's battles, this book presents an assessment of his abilities as a naval commander. It provides an analysis of his tactics based on personal order books and battle plans, and shows how the British triumph at Trafalgar was the culmination of years of thought and experimentation on Nelson's part.
Colin White is Deputy Director of the Royal Naval Museum and co-ordinator of the Official Nelson Commemoration Committee at the National Maritime Museum. He is a well-known and respected authority on Nelson and Trafalgar and the author of 'The Nelson Companion (Sutton 1995) and the Nelson Encyclopedia (Chatham, 2002).
