Mike Shaw is a professional photographer and author who travels the world teaching courses. He is a Ph.D. holder. a B.S. in Materials Engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a M.S. in Materials Engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara. and a B.S. in Ceramic Engineering from Ohio State University. from the University of California, Berkeley, in Materials Science and Engineering.

Shaw is a retired professor of physics and astronomy who has instructed thousands of pupils. He also holds public educational workshops, such as astronomy and astrophotography outreach lectures for the United States. The National Park Service is a federal agency that manages national parks. He is the co-author of Integrated Science: Innovative Approaches to Teaching (2009) and the author of The Complete Guide to Landscape Astrophotography (2017).
