
TIMOTHY CORRIGAN is a University of Pennsylvania professor of cinema studies, English, and art history. His writings include New German Film: The Displaced Image, Werner Herzog's Films: Between Mirage and History, Writing About Film, A Cinema Without Walls: Pictures and Culture After Vietnam, Film and Literature: An Introduction and Reader, and The Film Experience, in addition to a number of pieces on Hazlitt, Keats, and De Quincey. Philological Quarterly, the Journal of the History of Ideas, and a number of film magazines have published his work. His most recent project, The Essay Film, traces the growth of the essayistic in modern film practices by returning to his earlier work in British romanticism.
