Cyril Aslanov is Professor of Linguistics at Aix-Marseille Université, France. He is also a member of the Institut Universitaire de France and invited professor at Saint-Petersburg State University, Russia. He has published more than 160 articles and seven books on Romance linguistics and philology, Greek linguistics and the linguistics of Hebrew and Jewish languages. His main fields of interest are Old Provençal and Old French. His publications include Le provençal des Juifs et l'hébreu en Provence: le dictionnaire Šaršot Ha-Kesef de Joseph Caspi (2001), Evidence of Francophony in Mediaeval Levant: Decipherment and Interpretation (MS. BnF. Copte 43) (2006), and Le français au Levant, jadis et naguère. À la recherche d'une langue perdue (2006).
