Tracing New York's emergence after the Second World War as a major international fashion capital and looking at the important designers of the period, including Clare McCardle and Charles James, this work explores its importance as a fashion capital in the 21st century. It also looks briefly at the last quarter of the 20th century.
Sonnet Stanfill is a curator in the Department of Furniture, Textiles & Fashion at the V&A, specialising in contemporary fashion. She curated the highly successful exhibition of the work of Ossie Clark in 2004.
