Shows the struggles of everyday life in a state edging ever closer to apartheid. Through anecdotes, interviews and letters provides an insider's view of the milestones of the Israeli peace movement.
"A personal account of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict that is penetrating, incisive and fierceEach page is filled with fresh observations that expose the reader to the emotions and passions of both Israelis and Palestinians. Though writing about the painful reality of terrorism, occupation and its concomitant excesses, Golan-Agnon's book is ultimately hopeful, embracing a vision of social justice and equality for all." —Rabbi David Forman, founding chair of Rabbis for Human Rights

"This is an extremely important book that documents the emergence of a compassionate feminist and human rights activist on the Israeli left. . . . This book is full of clarity, honest reflection, at once personal and politically trenchant, producing a moving and rare example of clear-sighted tenacity in the face of rampant injustice." —Judith Butler
Daphna Golan-Agnon teaches human rights at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She was a co-founder and research director of B’Tselem and the founding director of Bat Shalom. She is currently a research fellow at the Harry S. Truman Institute for the Advancement of Peace in Jerusalem.
