Clement Clarke Moore(15 July 1779 - 10 July 1863) was an American writer and poet. He is best known as author of the Christmas poem, A Visit from St. Nicholas, which first named each of Santa's reindeer. He wrote this for his children and it later became widely known by its opening line: 'Twas the Night Before Christmas'. It was first published anonymously in 'Sentinel' on December 23rd 1823.
