No More Beyond by Simon Nasht

Hubert Wilkins is one of the unsung heroes of history. A war hero, photographer, reporter, prolific writer, spy, scientist, naturalist, ornithologist and gifted aviator, South Australian-born Wilkins was the most remarkable explorer of the twentieth century. No one before or since has discovered more previously unknown land and sea. A pioneer of photography during World War I, he was described by one general as 'the bravest man I have ever seen' and is the only Australian war photographer to be decorated in battle...twice. He was the first man to fly in the Antarctic and the first to navigate a submarine under polar ice. He traveled round the world in the Graf zeppelin, and was probably instrumental in inspiring L Ron Hubbard. He survived crashes and disasters, firing squads, sabotage and capture by Arab slavers, living long enough to be honoured by kings, presidents and dictators. Extensively researched, "The Last Explorer" details the astounding exploits, intelligence and tenacity of an authentic hero. Simon Nasht's account celebrates the life of a truly extraordinary man, whose name deserves to be remembered.

'An amazing man makes for an amazing story'

* The Daily Telegraph, Sydney *

'Readers of Nasht's engrossing book will, like the author, find it hard to understand how a life of derring-do and implausible adventures could be so quickly forgotten'

* Canberra Times *
