Nobodies to Somebodies by Anthony Reddie
This text offers a systematic approach to the teaching and learning of the Christian faith that speaks to the experiences of multi-ethnic and Black majority inner-city urban churches in Britain. Using the insights of Black theology and liberationist transformative education, this study offers a challenge to existing Eurocentric approaches to the teaching and learning of the Christian faith. The mission and ministry of the church in the 21st century needs to be informed by the crucial insights of Black and liberation theologies, in addition to transformative education. This text offers a model of practical theology that draws upon these disciplines for the task of nurturing marginalized people in the Christian faith. The book introduces a new discipline for the present age - a Black Christian education of liberation. It should therefore be a useful text for those involved in ministerial training and theological education. It should also be an important resource for adult Christian educators and trainers, youth ministry specialists, church advisors, Christian youth work and children's workers and other practitioners, such as ministers, lay workers and secular educationalists.
