Gareth is afraid of moving from junior school to grammar school. He believes he will lose his friends and his way of life. This book gives an insight into life in the 1960's without technology, day time television and shows that life for children is lived largely outside of the house. A stranger discovers the first journal in a house in which Gareth lived and this sets the finder on a voyage of discovery - discovery about Gareth and the secret of truth and fiction.
